Jacob Bobart [Bobert] the elder, born c.1599 in Brunswick/Braunschweig, died 4 Feb 1680 in Oxford.  Appointed first superintendent of the Botanical Garden c. 1640 by its founder. Credited with the Catalogus plantarum horti medici Oxoniensis of 1648, rev. edn 1658. Father of Jacob Bobart the YoungerSee further ODNB.
